It may take a while before soccer becomes popular in the United States, but the US is surely increasing its influence in the world stage, much to the regret of Europeans, who have traditionally mocked US soccer for its being second-tier.
Now, Disney-owned ESPN acquired the broadcast rights of the English Premier League Games--in England. Meanwhile, the US soccer team beats top-ranked Spain in the semifinals of the Confederations Cup in South Africa.
