Mexican President Felipe Calderon agreed on President-elect Barack Obama's idea of upgrading the labor and environmental issues of the "North American Free Trade Agreement"(NAFTA) on a meeting last Monday. Obama is ready to threaten the 15 year old treaty if he could not win the said concessions from Mexico and Canada. Pro free-trade Jeffrey Schott of Institute of International Economics agreed to Obama's intention of rebuffing NAFTA to be upgraded to meet the new challenges up ahead.
